A simple yet effective check of network health can be made by sweeping through the interface statistics on the network's routers and switches. Two measurements are made, typically a week apart, and the error rates for each interface are calculated and compared against acceptable industry standards. The interfaces that are out of compliance are individually remedied. A third measurement is taken to verify that the problems have been resolved. Even healthy networks usually contain a few isolated problems. Interface error analysis can quickly and easily spot those problems. |
